about me
Amy Hart
Amy Hart is an award-winning writer/director best known for her horror comedy short film, Killer Abs, which premiered at Austin Film Festival. After moving across the country, getting divorced, and leaving a fundamentalist community, Amy rebuilt her life in Austin, Texas as a single mom. In her “spare time,” she studied screenwriting and filmmaking and became an active member of Austin’s film community.
In addition to directing films, she soon found herself directing summer camps and after school programs at a Montessori school, then directing operations for a legal-tech company at the heart of Austin’s tech startup scene. After seeing the company through four years of explosive growth and an acquisition by a major private-equity-backed industry buyer, she “retired” to chase passion projects full-time.
Under the umbrella of her multimedia production company, Daydream Believer Productions, she’s since expanded into music production and podcasting, spotlighting voices and stories that deserve to be heard. She’s also currently writing a memoir about losing her religion, finding herself after divorce, and how her life’s throughline of creative expression became the inner compass that helped her rewrite her own story.
Amy lives in Austin with her two daughters who surprise her daily with their creativity, determination, and wit, and her entrepreneur husband, Hilton Hart, the one part of her tech job she couldn’t leave behind.
